These Guidelines were last modified on 11th May 2017.
The following terms and conditions govern the WP Design Suite Affiliate Programs, available on any of the following WP Design Suite Websites:
Becoming an Affiliate
All WP Design Suite Affiliate Programs are 100% free to join.
Only existing members of of the above websites are eligible to join our Affiliate Program. If you are not yet a member, you must register for an account on any one of these websites before applying to become an Affiliate.
Your website content must be approved prior to allowing Affiliate Program participation. Although we welcome all types of blogs and websites to participate in our Affiliate Program, we prefer WordPress-related blogs and websites. We are strongly against spam or scraper sites and they will not be approved. Additionally, we have the right to refuse or revoke Affiliate participation of any website or blog that contains objectionable material.
All Affiliate applications are reviewed and approved/denied within 24-48 hours of the time the application was submitted.
By applying to become an Affiliate, you agree to these Affiliate Guidelines. And, you agree to provide us with tax information for our accounting purposes, by downloading the Tax Documents on the Affiliate Program application and then uploading the completed copies to us.
Managing Your Affiliate Account
Once you’ve been approved, you will have immediate access to an Affiliate Area, where you can manage your affiliate account. This Affiliate Area can only be used in accordance with these Guidelines, and with the Terms & Conditions of each respective website.
You will also be able to access the Affiliate Center, to find information about our latest promotions, get Affiliate training, and track your performance on the Affiliate Leaderboard. This also must be used in accordance with these Guidelines, and with the Terms & Conditions of each respective website.
Using Your Referral Links
When promoting WP Design Suite websites as an Affiliate, you may use your unique referral link on your own site (widgets, tweets, posts or sidebars), your social media accounts, etc.
If the site you’re posting on is not your own, be sure to seek permission to insert an affiliate link beforehand.
Your referral link can also be used to promote limited time discounts that we run on our Marketplaces from time to time.
The referral tracking cookie, which tracks the referrals made by your unique Affiliate link, is set to expire in 90 days.
Users must have cookies active in order for the tracking cookie to track referrals via your link. If a user clears their cookies, they will no longer be tracked.
Also, if a user has visited that particular WP Design Suite website before and then clicks on your referral link, it will not count as a referral.
Promoting WP Design Suite Websites Using Creatives
When you join any of our Affiliate Programs, in addition to your unique referral link, you will also be supplied with various banners, logos, and text links to place within your site or blog, in social media posts, emails, etc.
Using WP Design Suite Website Logos
You may use any our logos on your site to promote our products under the condition that you only use the WP Design Suite Website’s brand, trademarks and intellectual property only in the forms made available specifically for our Affiliates.
Banner and Text Ads
Use targeted banner ads, such as banner ads for specific product categories, and banner ads for recruiting sub-affiliates. You can access these banners from the “Creatives” section of your Affiliate Area. Remember to keep banner ads above the fold (the section of the website that can be seen when the page loads without scrolling) where they will be clearly visible. Also, try not to clutter the page with too many ads. Use only one or two ads per page to prevent the visitor’s focus from being drawn in too many different directions.
Text Ads can be strategically placed throughout your site, and/or on social media sites, to promote your referral link. You can place a text ad on your sidebar, or before or after content sections. Then link up all or part of the copy with your referral link. Text ads should be brief, clear and descriptive, targeted specifically to its intended audience. For example, you could promote Pro Plugin Marketplace in a text ad like this:
“Visit Pro Plugin Marketplace for the best selection of premium WordPress plugins. Expand your website with the special features you need”
Promoting WP Design Suite Websites Using Affiliate Types
WP Design Suite Affiliate Programs offer Affiliates a variety of ways to promote our products. We allow YOU to choose how you wish to attract people to our website, and for this reason, we offer you several Affiliate Types to choose from. These are the ways that specific Affiliate Types can promote our products:
Using Your Website
If you have a WordPress-related website that you’ve used to build some authority within the WordPress community, you can use your site to promote our premium WordPress products. This is mainly done using Affiliate Banner Ads and Text Ads, but you can combine the other Affiliate Types with this and write blog posts, send emails out to your list, and/or share to your social media following. You can also recruit Plugin Authors, Theme Authors, and Affiliates from your website!
On a Blog
As an Affiliate Blogger, you may use your referral link throughout your blog, on our blog, or on guest blogs.
You can write about WP Design Suite Websites, any of our products, do a product review, create a product list post, design a product guide, or write about any other area of interest that is related to WordPress and WP Design Suite.
When writing blog posts, create SEO friendly posts about an area of interest that is related to the products you choose to market.
On Social Media Sites
If you’ve already developed a strong social media following, you can turn those followers into website visitors, and then turn them into customers, by promoting your affiliate link within your social media content.
We want to ensure that all Affiliates promote our products and websites in a legitimate way. Therefore, all Affiliates are required to obtain a written consent from WP Design Suite Websites to use our name on any social networking site URLs, just to name a few – FaceBook, Twitter, Instagram, Google Plus, Pinterest, and more.
Promote our plugins on social sites like Twitter very carefully. People don’t like being marketed to in a social context, so only present promotions to your followers that you feel would really benefit the people who’ll be reading your message.
WP Design Suite Websites prohibit the use of Twitter hashtags with our website name, example – #ProPluginMarketplace, on Twitter discussions related to our websites.
To Your Email List
Using your unique affiliate link in the content, you can present great product offers and product-related content to your mailing list.
Your email list(s) must be approved by us before sending any promotional messages out. To request a list review, please contact us.
You can use any and all of the above methods to find other Affiliates (your sub-affiliates) and/or Plugin/Theme Authors who may have premium products to contribute to our Marketplaces.
If you recruit another Affiliate as a sub-affiliate, your commissions will be based upon that sub-affiliate’s sales. You will receive a 10% commission on every successful sale that your sub-affiliate makes.
When you recruit a Plugin or Theme Author, however, your commissions are not based on product sales. Commissions are generated when the prospective Plugin or Theme Author is approved, and verified (they have made a minimum of 10 sales in their Shop). The commission you receive is a flat rate of $50 for each “verified” Plugin or Theme Author that you have referred.
After a sale is made and recorded, the Affiliate will earn a commission based on the following commission structure:
Level 1 20% (Direct Referrals)
Level 2 10% (Indirect Referrals)
Affiliates can earn commissions on Level 2 (Indirect Referrals) only if they have personally referred the Affiliate, as a sub-affiliate, who made the sale.
As a general rule, Affiliates will not receive any commissions on self-sales (personal purchases made using your own affiliate link).
Affiliates will receive Lifetime Commissions on sales made on returning customers, for the lifetime of the customer. This means, if you refer a sale through your affiliate link, and someone buys a product, you will get a commission. And if that same customer returns to the site later and makes another purchase, you will earn commissions for those referred sales as well.
Commissions are calculated according to the specifics of each sale. The actual commissionable amount is based on the price the customer pays. So, if a customer clicks through your link and buys a plugin for $100, you would get a $20 commission from that purchase. If the customer used a discount coupon, the amount would be adjusted to reflect the discount. For example, a customer buys a plugin that costs $100 (regular price), and the customer uses a 50% off discount coupon at checkout, the actual commissionable amount would be $50, and you would receive a 20% commission on that sale which would come out to $10.
Commissions are paid out to our Affiliates on the 15th of each month for the previous month’s earnings. Commissions are calculated from the first of the month to the last day of the month, then paid the following month on the 15th day.
Payouts will be made via PayPal in US Dollars, and will only be paid to the Affiliate if they have generated a minimum of $50 in their affiliate account within the payment cycle (from the first day of the month to the last day of the month). If the Affiliate has not generated the minimum amount required for payout, the Affiliate’s commissions will be “rolled” over to the next month, until the amount in their Affiliate Payout Account reaches $50, to enable payment.
Refunds and Chargebacks
Affiliate commissions are only paid out for successfully completed transactions. If a sale goes into pending, is canceled or refunded the Affiliate will not receive a commission for that sale. If a transaction that is directly relating to your Affiliate earnings is subject to a refund or chargeback, we will refund the customer for the sale, withhold that portion of your Affiliate earnings, then update your Affiliate earnings to reflect the refund/chargeback. This is not considered a successful sale and is therefore not commissionable. All chargebacks and/or returns will have been processed by the pay out date, and adjusted to the Affiliate’s account.
Affiliates must disclose affiliate relationships with businesses that appear on your site and clearly identify advertising and paid promotions. Review sites should clearly state how reviews are composed and checked, and whether and how commission or conversion rates influenced the presentations, including ratings or rankings.
As an Affiliate, you must use an affiliate disclaimer when promoting our websites. Since there is still some murkiness with the FTC around the topic of these disclaimers, our recommendation is that you disclose when you are using an affiliate link, or in some way make it clear and obvious that you are making recommendations using affiliate links.
In order to comply with the FTC guidelines, disclosures about the fact that you are receiving commissions made through affiliate links in your websites, for example, must meet four basic requirements. They must be frequent, clear, conspicuous, and require no scrolling or other type of user action to locate the disclosure.
Frequent: Your disclosure must appear on any page that has a review, recommendation, comment or article that promotes a product or service for which you receive compensation.
Clear: It must be immediately clear that you may receive compensation for your review or rating.
Conspicuous: The disclosure must be clear and easy to see. It should begin with the word “disclosure.” No scrolling should be necessary in order to find the disclosure.
Require No Action: Your disclosure must be immediately evident to a typical visitor to your site who views a review, ranking or endorsement on a PC, Mac, or mobile device. A visitor should not need to scroll, click or hover to learn that you receive compensation.
If you do include a clickable link or additional information when a visitor hovers over text, the language of the link itself should reveal the fact that you receive compensation.
As for where to place disclosures, the guiding principle is that it has to be clear and conspicuous. These may be used on your website footer, on the bottom of a blog post, review, social media post, etc.
Here are some examples of appropriate disclaimers:
Website Footer or Sidebar
“DISCLOSURE: An independent affiliate marketer of Pro Plugin Marketplace owns this website. Pro Plugin Marketplace, Automattic Inc., or WordPress has not sponsored it in any way.”
“DISCLOSURE: I may be an affiliate for products that I recommend. If you purchase those items through my links I will earn a commission.
“DISCLOSURE: This post contains affiliate links, which means I receive compensation if you make a purchase using this link.
“DISCLOSURE: The reviews we offer on this site are based on the independent experience and opinion of the reviewer. Our reviewers test each product thoroughly and give high ratings to only the very best. The reviewer, or an independent affiliate, however, may receive compensation when you purchase something as a result of clicking through the link of this review.”

You must not confuse consumers through the design of your site by copying our site design or using our logos other than the prescribed affiliate banners we provide specifically for our Affiliate Program.
You may not use WP Design Suite Websites’ brands, trademarks and intellectual property other than the banner ads and logos approved by us and made available to our Affiliates in their Affiliate Area.
You may not purchase a domain name, search engine keyword or pay-per-click advertisement that uses any WP Design Suite Website’s trademarks, or variations and mis-spellings of such.
You may not refer users by misleading them about whether your website is operated or endorsed by any WP Design Suite Website (for example, by copying design elements from our site; linking from our website or from any of our domains in order to gain referrals; or, bouncing links off other domains)
You may not do anything that might be confusing, misleading or deceptive to users (eg referring from a site that might be confusing to users about whether it is a WP Design Suite website).
You may not copy product descriptions or any other related product information (without prior consent from us) for use in your promotions.
You may not send unsolicited email or other messaging that in any way may constitute spam.
You may not engage in any activities that constitute Affiliate Fraud, defined as an illegal activity designed with the intention of cheating merchants, other affiliates or buyers. These bad practices include spamming, typo-squatting, sending fake leads, creating deceptive links that do not pay the affiliate who legitimately earned the commission, cookie stuffing, and diverting links from legit affiliates, trademark poaching, using stolen credit cards, and clicks on CPC (cost-per-click) links using software that simulates human clicks.
Affiliate Guidelines Violations
All in all, you must use WP Design Suite Websites and Affiliate Programs responsibly. We reserve the right to determine, on a case-by-case basis, whether or not your use of our Affiliate Programs complies with any applicable laws and/or these Affiliate Guidelines. This includes doing anything that would amount to a breach of any laws including, but not limited to, privacy, intellectual property and spam. It also includes engaging in any conduct that does not meet our standards of ‘fair play’ including things like fraud, confusing prospects, or providing a link designed to mislead the customer.
If, at any time, we decide that your participation in our Affiliate Program is in breach of any applicable laws or these Affiliate Guidelines; or, does not comply with our Terms and Conditions, we will take action to withhold your earnings and may also disable your account. Affiliates who are found guilty of violating our Affiliate Program Guidelines will not receive commissions on specific transaction violations. We normally don’t terminate any affiliate accounts, but we do make exceptions if the Affiliate has incurred excessive violations.
